The commitment to creating a space that resonates with land is evident in every detail, from the colour schemes to the sustainable practices that define Wild Rest. The choice of C+G linens is a further reflection of this. Mireille's current favourites, Olive, Blue Stripes, and Sand, mirror the outdoor palette, blending seamlessly with the environment.

Mireille’s journey to Wild Rest began with a serendipitous online property search, leading her to a piece of Tasmanian paradise. Inspired by the dream of hosting somewhere folks could escape to for pure restoration and connection, she replaced the old shack with this stunning tiny home.
We were lucky enough to be amongst the first few people to visit this slice of off-the-grid luxury, where we caught up with Mireille on her gorgeous deck. Read our chat with her below and start planning your much needed r&r.

C+G: Tell us your background story of how you decided to build a tiny home in Golden Valley, Tasmania?
MG: I had a dream of hosting on this beautiful property since stumbling on it - on page six of realestate.com! In addition to the main house, there was a tired Tassie shack tucked away surrounded by bush. A Tiny House was brought in to replace this shack. It has been quite the adventure and I think has brought that beautiful corner back to life.
C+G: For those who don’t know about Wild Rest or what is to come, please let our C+G audience know?
MG: Launching in 2024, Wild Rest is just that, a cabin and sauna in the woods. A regenerative slow stay, totally off grid and immersed in nature. Guests will enjoy a curated blend of rustic and luxe; gritty and gentle; raw and refined - in their own private sanctuary, to unwind and restore.
C+G: You had us at ‘wood sauna’, sounds divine! What else do you encourage guests to do while there?
MG: An oversized deck is ideal for yoga and meditation followed by an outdoor bath or cold plunge. Guests can stargaze on a clear night, with birdlife, wallabies, rabbits, pademelons and the occasional echidna as company. Further afield, there are many famous walking trails. And locally, I recommend sampling wonderful local produce at Frank & Lotti Espresso Bar in Deloraine and Love Lucy Boots in Westbury.
C+G: Nature is such a big part of your offering, how did you find the location?
MG: Fate! I typed “eco cabin” in the realestate filter and there it was. The moment I saw it, I just knew it was home. So I actually bought it sight unseen having never visited Tasmania before …. wild. Looking back, I am very glad to have taken this leap of faith.
C+G: You have C+G of course on your bed / beds at Wild Rest - what is your favourite combination?
MG: Currently, I am obsessed with the combination of Olive, Blue Stripes with Sand. They speak to the surroundings so beautifully. Also loving the bolder options in gingham, like Paprika. It will be nice to explore different combinations in different seasons. The tones and weight of the linen are just beautiful.
